Thanks to all 1,348 of you who signed up for our children's summer reading program. We had a great time and we'll be back next year with another fun-filled roster of programs.
The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is free and open to Westford children and out of town Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library from preschool to those entering 4th grade in September. Older children entering 5th grade and up are encouraged to participate in the 'Tween and 'Teen program, Unmask! The SRP offers weekly prizes for reaching reading goals as well as fun weekly programs.
Children who read set weekly, inidvidual reading goals with their parents. Reading goals will vary from child to child and perhaps from week to week. Once a week children bring their log books to show what they have been reading and collect a special weekly price or a raffle ticket chance towards a bigger prize awarded at the end of the SRP.
Children who are read to can also come to the library on a weekly basis to collect a prize for their week of listening. They are encouraged to draw a picture of a story they heard.
Bring your log book each week. Children will get a special stamp to recognize their great week of reading. If the log book gets filled up or lost, just use a plain piece of paper to keep logging.
