The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is free and open to Westford children and out of town Friends of the JV Fletcher Library from preschool to those entering 4th grade in September. (Older children entering 5th grade and up are encouraged to participate in the ‘Tweens and Teens program: Spark a Reaction.)  The SRP offers weekly prizes for reaching reading goals as well as fun, Weekly Programs like concerts, magic, science, and crafts!

CHILDREN WHO READ set weekly individual reading goals with their parents.  Reading goals will vary from child to child and perhaps from week to week. (A week does not have to be Sunday through Saturday, but can be any seven day span.)  Once a week, when the family comes to the Library, children bring their logbooks to show what they have been reading and collect a special weekly prize or a raffle ticket chance towards a bigger prize awarded at the end of the SRP.

CHILDREN WHO ARE READ TO can also come to the Library on a weekly basis to receive a prize for their week of listening. They are encouraged to draw a picture of a story they heard. (Even a scribble has been known to “illustrate” the whole story line of a picture book.)
LOGBOOKS:  Bring your logbook each week.  You will get a special stamp to recognize your great week of reading. If your log book gets filled up or you lose it, just grab a piece of plain paper and keep on logging.
TICKETS:  Some events require tickets ($2.00) for admission.  Call or visit the Youth Services Department starting Monday, June 2nd to purchase tickets for children, parents, and caregivers. Because tickets are in high demand, tickets reserved by phone must be picked up within two weeks of reservation.
FREE REGISTRATION:  Some programs require free registration.  Call or visit the Youth Services Department starting Monday, June 2nd to register children for these events.
FREE DROP-IN:  Some programs are free and require no registration.  Children, parents, and caregivers may simply come to the library to enjoy the program.
First week of programs: June 23th
Last day for a prize:   August 9th
