First Meeting in our Summer Gardening Series

Wednesday, May 25 at 4 PM. Drop in – no registration required.
In April, we planted carrots, lettuce, potatoes, peas, and kale in our new garden. Christine from Fresh Start Food Gardens will lead our May update program and we’ll be talking about how these plants grow so differently from each other and which parts of the plants we eat. We will watch the peas climb, imagine the carrots pushing downward, look at a potato’s eyes growing sideways, marvel at the colorful chard stalks, and watch the greens grow from the middle of the plant.
We will also be planting the next round of crops. This family program and our summer Fresh Start Food Gardens programs are generously funded by the Friends of the J.V. Fletcher Library.
