Unless otherwise indicated, all of our summer reading programs will be held outside. If it rains, the program will be held inside in the Meeting Room. We ask that you please do not hesitate to wear a mask inside the library if that makes you more comfortable.

Mike Bent’s “Adventure is Out There” Magic Show

Wednesday, June 22 at 1 PM

Our “Into the Woods” Summer Reading Program kicks off with our favorite magician Mike Bent. This book-themed show uses hilarious comedy, amazing magic, games, music, sound effects, AND storytelling to motivate kids to get reading. Mike is one of our great library traditions! Best for ages 4 and up.

Fresh Start Food Gardens: Library Garden June update

Wednesday, June 22 at 4 PM

Drop in for our June garden session to see the progress in our garden bags and to learn more about what has happened since our May check in. In June, our early crops like lettuce and peas may be ready to harvest. Our expert gardening friend Christine from Fresh Start Food Gardens will tell us what it happening and what we can expect next month.

Camp Read A-Lot

Family Concert with Rolie Polie Guacamole Band

Rolie Polie Guacamole is back again all the way from Brooklyn New York for a great summer evening concert. Winner of the prestigious Parents’ Choice® and NAPPA Awards, Rolie Polie Guacamole offers a seriously rocking show of original tunes and some classic covers. Please mark your calendar – you won’t be disappointed! We are requesting that they play FIRE TRUCK!

Virtual Cartooning with Rick Stromoski

Wednesday, July 6 at 4 PM

For kids going into grades K to 4, award winning cartoonist and humorous illustrator Rick Stromoski will teach you how to draw some pretty silly superheroes. You supply the paper, pencil, and maybe an eraser. Rick supplies the expertise and fun. And Nancy’s favorite is the guy on the right with the coffee cup on his head.

Mother Goose Story Time

Miss Jacki, Miss Nancy, Shakin It, rhymes, bouncing babies, spiders, giant books, Baby Shark, and a field trip. If you have not been to Mother Goose before, you will understand the code once you come to one! We will be outside every Thursday in July at 10:30 AM (in the Meeting Room if it rains). Minecraft Battle Builds Game Play with One Up Games

RESCHEDULED TO Monday, July 25 session one 10 AM-11:30 AM, session two 12 PM-1:30 PM

Hosted by local Massachusetts eSport and gaming venue, One Up Games, we will have full set ups for two free play gaming events: 10AM-11:30AM and 12PM-1:30PM for kids in grades K-4. Play outside and in person. Registration is required. Space is limited so please sign up for one session only.

Ooch Summer Birthday Dance Party

Tuesday, July 12 at 6:30 PM

We are celebrating summer reading (AND Nancy’s birthday!) with the ultimate outdoor dance party. You may know Ooch from a visit to your school or you may recognize him from the fabulous Harry Potter Trivia events we had the past two summers with Ooch and his brother Nik – the Trivia Brothers. Party dances! Contests! Follow-along dance moves! Celebrate those summer birthdays with us and the whole family. This program takes place outside unless it rains. If it rains, we will be in the Meeting Room. This program is generously funded by the KDK Foundation in honor of Kurt Kelly.

The Yo-Yo Guy: John Higby

World Champion and four-time Guinness World record holder John Higby will be here to present his unique high energy comedy yo-yo show. This program takes place outside unless it rains – then it is in the Meeting Room. For ages four and up. Do not miss this one!

Let’s Go on a Bug Hunt

Hands on Nature comes to the library to help us discover fascinating local bugs such as beetles, worms, slugs, ladybugs, and caterpillars. You will learn about their importance in our lives and their role in our ecosystem as we explore together on a fun LIVE BUG HUNT on the grounds of the library. We will make other plans if it rains.

Diagon Alley Apprentice Workshops

Friday, July 29 at 2 PM

It’s finally back on site! We will be celebrating Harry’s birthday OUTSIDE at the library with a Diagon Alley theme. We are working out the details but be sure to brush up on mandrake care, Quidditch plays, and magical creatures. We also may have to do some de-gnoming on the library grounds; we will have to wait and see how much of an infestation we get in our new garden.

Remember to dress up in your house colors or as your favorite witch or wizard. If it rains, we will let you know if we are moving inside or rescheduling.

Talewise presents ” Pirates, Lost at Sea”

Wednesday, August 3 at 1 PM

Set sail on a thrilling action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a desert island. With mutiny and high-tide looming, they must rescue their salty captain and find a way to repair their ship before all hope is lost.

Throughout the story, Talewise will explore the incredible science behind clouds, physical and chemical changes, air pressure, and more! If it rains, this program will take place in the Meeting room. This program is for ages 5 and up.
