We are pleased to announce that the Library reopened to the public on Tuesday, June 1! Regular hours are reinstated and limited Curbside Service remains available. Items may be returned in person or in the book drop. Masks are encouraged in light of our high usage by as-yet-unvaccinated children.

Unless otherwise indicated, all of our summer reading programs will be held outside at the new stage on the back lawn. Please note that each outdoor show has a rain date as well – no programs will be held in the building. We will try to notify you as early as possible if we need to move a show to the rain date which is why we are asking for preregistration for all of our events.

We ask that you follow the governor’s guidelines for outdoor events and please do not hesitate to wear a mask if that makes you more comfortable.

Mike Bent’s Tails, Tricks, & Tales! Summer Reading Magic Show

Our “Tails and Tales” Summer Reading Program kicks off with our favorite magician Mike Bent. This book-themed show uses hilarious comedy, amazing magic, games, music, sound effects, AND storytelling to motivate kids to get reading. Best for ages 4 and up.

Wally’s Interactive Reading Adventure

Wednesday, June 30 at 2 PM

Special guest Wally from the Red Sox brings us along on an interactive reading adventure. He will be showing kids how to use sounds, actions, and imagination to make books come alive! This fun, fast-paced show invites kids to explore the joys of reading while laughing and increasing their confidence in learning. Last summer, Rolie Polie Guacamole Band drove all of the way here and back to Brooklyn New York to do one of their only outside shows and they are coming back to us again this year! Family Concert with the Rockabye Beats

The Rockabye Beats became an immediate favorite after their live parking lot performance last summer! Come get a little crazy with Marcos and Shon as they deliver hands on learning through music, bouncing, Spanish, and all kinds of shenanigans. You can either drive-in to our parking lot and tune your radio to listen or bring a blanket and spread out on the grass in front of our temporary stage for an outside, socially distanced view. Wear your PJs and pack some snacks and enjoy the show.

Super Smash Bros. Game Play with One Up Games

Wednesday, July 14 session one 10 AM-12 PM, session two 12:30 PM -2:30 PM – rain date is Friday, July 16

Hosted by local Massachusetts eSport and gaming venue, One Up Games, we will have full set ups for two free play gaming events: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for kids in grades K-4. Play outside and in person. All you need to do is sign up. Space is limited so please sign up for one session only.

Owls of the World

Tuesday, July 20 at 6:30 PM – rain date is Thursday, July 22 at 6:30 PM

Eyes on Owls introduces you to the owls of New England and beyond. Mark and Marcia share the field marks, signs, and naturalist’s skills that you can use to find wild owls without disturbing them. You will meet six live owls (from small to huge) up close. Everyone participates in a hooting lesson and learns tips on how to attract and protect owls near you. This is the perfect program for kids and adults of all ages.

VIRTUAL Wicked Good Harry Potter Challenge Trivia with the Trivia Brothers

Saturday, July 31 at 6 PM

This is an amazing experience to celebrate Harry’s birthday, sponsored by the KDK Foundation in honor of Kurt Kelly. The Trivia Brothers turn this virtual event into an amusement park-like experience that you won’t forget. Using a Choose your Own Adventure type format, the audience decides what Hogwarts locations we visit and what we do while there. There will be tough trivia questions based on where we choose to go along with theme music, movie clips, sound effects, and FLYING. Please preregister using our Events Calendar. The Zoom link for this program will be emailed to all registrants.

Dress up as your favorite character and choose a fun team name. It doesn’t even matter if you are on vacation – zoom in. You will need TWO DEVICES in order to enjoy the optimal experience: a computer to join the Zoom meeting and a smart phone or tablet to play the game. Teams can have individual or multiple players – Recommended team size is 3-6 players.
